Jo is a warm, empathic and experienced occupational therapist, graduating from The University of Queensland in 2008 with a Masters of Occupational Therapy Studies, and an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) in 2005.
Jo brings a wealth of experience to each of her clients, having worked as a senior and supervisory mental health occupational therapist for over 15 years in both the public sector with Queensland Health, and abroad in private practice in the United Kingdom.
To date, Jo’s career has encompassed psychosocial rehabilitation and therapy for people experiencing psychotic illnesses, anxiety and depression, individual and group based therapies for eating disorders and personality disorders, sensory modulation, and assessment of housing needs and rehabilitative support for clients to transition into new living environments.
Jo is a passionate advocate for her clients and enjoys working collaboratively with them towards a life in which they can participate in all meaningful activities and enhance overall well being. Jo enjoys developing a therapeutic relationship with her clients, in combination with providing the most current, evidence-based practice.
Jo has undertaken extensive training to provide dialectical behaviour therapy for people living with personality disorders. Jo has also completed advanced training in Cognitive behaviour therapy enhanced for eating disorders in the United Kingdom and pioneered the occupational therapy component of the Queensland Eating Disorder Service (QuEDS) day program. Jo has presented at various conferences in relation to the treatment of eating disorders, including the National Occupational Therapy Australia conference. Jo is an accredited Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) clinician.
In her spare time, Jo is a busy mum of two and enjoys spending time with family, friends and pets!
